Meditative Mint Tea
Mint tea is traditional, and celebrated in many cultures.
In Moroccan culture, the tea is steeped and mixed with sugar (we suggest it this way, too!) and is commonly served at all times of day.
On the North American continent, early Native Americans made a tea from wild mint leaves in order to relieve an upset stomach. (read more below)
Ideally, steep for less than 10 minutes, or it could start to develop a bitter taste. Can be served hot or cold.
Benefits Insight:
Alleviates Digestive Discomfort Peppermint tea is widely recognized for its ability to soothe stomach-related issues. Its infusion contains essential oils such as menthol, menthone, and limonene, known for their calming properties on upset stomachs and facilitation of digestion. Combining peppermint or spearmint leaves with other beneficial herbs and extracts, like ginger, marshmallow root, and chamomile, can create herbal tea blends that offer a range of digestive benefits, including relief from constipation.
Offers Natural Pain Relief The aroma of a steaming cup of peppermint tea is believed to positively impact the olfactory system, presenting various potential applications, including tension headache relief. The natural menthol oil vapors released from the leaves have a relaxing effect on cranial muscles, helping alleviate pain. Additionally, the soothing compounds present in mint leaves may contribute to the reduction of dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramping) severity. Before resorting to painkillers, considering mint tea as an initial option is worth exploring.
Enhances Focus The invigorating and refreshing effects of mint tea are believed to enhance mental alertness and concentration. The scent of peppermint tea stimulates the limbic system, promoting heightened alertness—a delightful way to sharpen focus and excel in cognitive tasks such as examinations.
Supports Weight Loss Efforts For those aiming to decrease sugar intake or eliminate it for health reasons, mint tea offers a hydrating substitute with its subtly sweet flavor and invigorating aroma. It serves as an excellent alternative to sugary colas, fruit juices, and soft drinks. Instead of reaching for a sugary beverage during a mid-afternoon slump, opting for a calorie-free cup of mint tea stabilizes blood sugar levels and helps avoid the energy crash associated with insulin spikes.
Alongside peppermint, we added Blue lotus to make the experience especially meditative.
Blue Lotus’ nature is ethereal, psychedelic, and dreamy. Known to be a nervine (Nervous system regulator) & adaptogen. Tea from this magic & subtle psychedelic flower was sipped on by kings in ancient Egypt. “It is undiscerning in its selection of what it heals, which is often the case with adaptogens. It targets the area in need of healing, and it shifts energy into that the true constitution should be. It just does it all; a medicine that targets mind, body, soul, emotions. The Blue Lotus is revered as an herb to increase sexual vitality in both men and women. They say Isis made perfume from this amazing flower and Cleopatra bathed in Blue Lotus essences. There is something magical and enchanting with the Lotus flower, coming up from the polluted muds of earth and manifesting the pure golden Blue - White energy that can only be described as visually beautiful. That also relates to the Chakra system of the third eye and crown chakra. The golden represents the solar plexus chakra that is very much related to physical energy and earthy energy in its highest power - manifesting as the elevated “I-Am” consciousness.” (ANIMA MUNDI)
